Covid Restrictions Ease in DC

Since the height of the Omicron wave in DC, COVID-19 cases have dropped by more than 90% and there’s been a 95% reduction in hospitalizations, according to DC Health. In response, Mayor Bowser has made two important changes (you can read the full situational report here (PDF download)).

  1. As of February 15, indoor venues are no longer required to verify that patrons have been vaccinated. Private businesses may choose to keep vaccination requirements in place.
  2. The indoor mask mandate will be adjusted next month.

Beginning March 1, 2022, masks will not be required at:

  • Restaurants and bars
  • Sports and entertainment venues
  • Gyms, recreation centers, and indoor athletic facilities
  • Houses of worship
  • Businesses
  • Grocery stores, pharmacies, and retail establishments
  • DC Government offices in areas with no public interaction

Keep a mask handy! Private businesses may still require you to wear a mask. Schools, libraries, senior living communities, healthcare facilities, public transportation – including taxis and rideshare vehicles, and DC Government offices with direct interaction between employees and the public will continue to require the use of a face mask indoors. Please note: Northwest Neighbors Village will continue to require face masks for all in-person volunteer services and programs.

This week, DC Health also launched Digital Vaccine Record (DVR), a web-based portal that gives District residents secure, easy, and free access to their official COVID-19 vaccination records. To optimize the user experience, DVR will be replacing MyIR for residents to access their COVID-19 vaccination records. MyIR will no longer be available as of March 1, 2022. Click here to learn more or to sign up.  Full Members who would like help signing up for DVR can request a volunteer at 202-935-6060 or info@nnvdc.org.
