Northwest Neighbors Village is a part of the national Village movement. From its beginnings twenty years ago when a small group of Beacon Hill neighbors established the first Village in Boston, to a thriving network today of hundreds of non-profit community-based Villages across the country, the Village model is now established as a cost-effective, sustainable solution for healthy and vibrant aging.
With over 70 Villages in the DC Metro area, our region has the largest concentration of Villages in the country. There are 13 active Villages in DC who work hard to meet the unique needs of our communities, while also working together to share best practices, offer more services and programs to our members, and advance the Village movement in DC.
The DC Villages were recently featured in the Positive Aging SourceBook. This was the first time Villages have received this type of attention in the Positive Aging SourceBook, which is the go-to publication for information on local resources and senior living options.
