NNV Highlights of 2025!

By:

Oh what a year it has been! In addition to providing thousands of hours of volunteer services, our Village enjoyed hundreds of opportunities to learn, stay fit, and enjoy each other's company. Here's a look back on 2025.

We hosted our first Valentine's Day Brunch, celebrated our volunteers during Volunteer Appreciation Week, hosted our annual Ice Cream Social in a new venue, and marked the end of the summer at our annual picnic. Later today, we will come together for our holiday party!:

There were coffees, lunches and dinners at local restaurants and cafes, including Bread & Chocolate, Tikka, Birdsong Thai, Guapo's, MeiWah, The Den at Politics & Prose, Junction, Hunter's Hound, The Parthenon, Cafe of India, Paragon Thai, Viet Chopsticks, Dolan Uyghur, and more:

We visited the Capital Jewish Museum, Cedar Hill (historic home of Frederick Douglass) and Civil War Fort Stevens:

We hosted our largest ever performance featuring New Yorker writer Adam Gopnik in Adam Gopnik's New York. NNV members/volunteers Paul Levi & Cathy Waldman played a lively four-hand piano concert to a crowd of nearly 100 people:

We even had a photo shoot featuring our Village in action!:

And of course, our regular schedule of events continued without a hitch.  Throughout the year members enjoyed gentle yoga, Coping with Uncertainty, walks, Bingo, neighborhood chats, and book clubs! Additionally, our very active volunteer working groups worked diligently behind the scenes to advance NNV's mission on everything from village engagement, to diversity and inclusion, and fundraising.

If you have been thinking of becoming a part of our Village, now's the time! Visit our website for membership and volunteer opportunities at nnvdc.org or call us at 202-935-6060.
