We actively promote Northwest Neighbors Village to the local business community, citizens associations, and Main Streets, and seek opportunities for mutual support and engagement.
What do we do? We understand that thriving local businesses are important to helping our members age well in our community. We liaison with the Chevy Chase Citizens Association and three area Main Street organizations: Chevy Chase, Tenleytown, and Van Ness, to identify opportunities for partnerships that support the local business community, and engage older adults.
Current activities: Dine Local and Shop Local Events – We work with local restaurants to arrange special lunches. We partner with local shops to encourage our community to do business there. We publicize these local partnerships to our members and the larger community.
Business Programming: We invite local merchants to participate in virtual meetings with our community, such as discussions about the challenges of doing business during the Covid and post-Covid period, or in special events on their premises for our members.
Liaison Work: We develop and maintain relationships with the local business community and associations to seek opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships.
Needed: Our working group would appreciate several additional members or volunteers who are creative, outgoing, and willing to participate in discussions with the community leaders with whom we might ally.
